The prototype.js and scriptaculous libraries are indespensible to a modern website. They provide easy to use libraries and functions to jazz things up.

When I first started developing websites, I came across the Project Seven site. It had wonderfull website templates and eventually provided great css templates as well.

The first database I developed for was in 1980 on the new Oracle platform. I have also developed databases with Informix, FileMaker, Microsoft Access and Foxpro.

MySQL is indespensable for data driven websites. Here is hoping that Sun Microsystems does it justice.

There is an army out there writing free software. They do it for the same reason most of us write software. It is fun and challenging. But this army has written some very impressive pieces of software that rival the commercial software.

MySQL, Linux and many others are products of this community.

Alessandro Fulciniti, the author of Nifty Corners, came up with a novel way of creating rounded corners with css. Though, it is probably more efficient to use a jpeg, I chose to include this in my site just to heap praise.
